The GLC sits between the compact GLA and the larger GLE in the Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up. The second-generation X254 model was revealed in June 2022 and went on sale in South Africa in 2023. At 4,716 mm long, it is 60 mm longer than the car it replaced.

Every local GLC has 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic. The Mercedes-Benz models add a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter-generator that gives a 17 kW boost for short periods, come in Avantgarde or AMG Line trim, and consist of the GLC 200 4MATIC petrol and two 2.0-litre turbodiesels.

Mercedes-AMG adds the petrol GLC 43 4MATIC and the plug-in hybrid GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE, which combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor and a 6.1 kWh battery that provides up to 12 km of electric driving.
