The GLA is the compact crossover of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family, positioned below the GLC. The second-generation model, coded H247, went on sale in South Africa in 2020 and was facelifted in 2023, when the petrol GLA 200 gained 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance that can add about 10 kW for short periods.

Both local versions drive the front wheels through dual-clutch automatic gearboxes, with seven speeds for the petrol and eight for the diesel. The petrol engine is a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, and the diesel a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder. The petrol produces 120 kW and the diesel 110 kW.

The cabin pairs a 7-inch instrument display with a 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen as standard. Progressive and AMG Line versions are offered with both engines.
