The CLE Cabriolet is the open-top version of the CLE Coupé and took over from the C-Class and E-Class cabriolets. It seats four and arrived in South Africa in November 2024.

Its multi-layer fabric roof comes in black, red or grey and opens or closes in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h. AIRCAP, an electrically extending wind deflector, and AIRSCARF, which blows warm air around the necks of the front occupants, are standard, and together they make top-down driving more comfortable on cooler days.

Both local versions use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance and a nine-speed automatic. The CLE 200 Cabriolet drives the rear wheels, while the CLE 300 4MATIC Cabriolet has all-wheel drive.

The South African range

  • CLE 200 Cabriolet: 2.0-litre turbo petrol with mild hybrid, 150 kW and 320 Nm, rear-wheel drive
  • CLE 300 4MATIC Cabriolet: 2.0-litre turbo petrol with mild hybrid, 190 kW and 400 Nm, all-wheel drive

Good to know

  • Boot space is 385 litres with the roof up and 295 litres with it lowered.
  • The fabric roof can be operated on the move at up to 60 km/h.
  • AIRSCARF and AIRCAP are standard, which makes open-top driving more practical in cooler weather.
