Mercedes-Benz South Africa lists the second-generation CLA, coded C118, as the CLA Coupé, separate from the new third-generation CLA Sedan. Despite the coupé name it has four doors, with a low, sloping roofline over a compact sedan body.

The C118 was launched in South Africa in 2019 and facelifted in 2023, when the petrol CLA 200 gained 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance. In January 2026 a CLA 200 Night Edition was added, with Alpine Grey paint, gloss-black exterior trim, AMG alloy wheels and twin 10.25-inch displays running MBUX.

At the performance end, Mercedes-AMG offered a CLA 45 S Final Edition in January 2026, with 15 cars allocated to South Africa. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder produces 310 kW and 500 Nm, and drives all four wheels.
