The E-Class is the executive sedan positioned above the C-Class in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. The current W214 generation was revealed in April 2023 and reached South Africa in mid-2024, offered locally in Avantgarde and AMG Line trim.

The E 200 and E 220 d both use 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance that adds 17 kW for short bursts, and both send their power to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic. The infotainment system runs on a large central touchscreen beside a digital driver display, and as an option the screen area can extend across the passenger side of the dashboard.

The plug-in hybrid in the line is the Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+. It pairs a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six with a 120 kW electric motor integrated into its nine-speed gearbox, drives all four wheels and has a claimed electric-only range of up to 100 km.
